Women in our society are constantly trying to live up to a level of beauty that is sold to them through fashion mags, TV and movies..what we all might not realize is how much of that beauty is a computer generated.
Fantasy women that real women could never measure up too.
I think these pictures are an eye opener and goes to show just how incredibly fooled we all are by the media. We’ve been bamboozled! Don’t get me wrong I think we all like to look at beautiful people but  it’s also nice to know we’re not so bad after all too..that everyone has their faults and no one is picture perfect.

What’s been hard for me is just getting older.. not being in my twenties anymore…and when I turned 35 whoa I really started to feel old. I want to see the beauty in myself but its not always easy because I do notice those little smile lines and imperfections that come with natural aging..I see them everyday and it does get me depressed.

I’m really grateful for Roy because he’s always telling me “Your so beautiful” which usually makes me feel better but then again deep down inside I’m also always thinking to myself.. he’s just saying that because he loves me.. so he can’t win for losing. Haha!

I think I struggle with the same thing a lot of other women…body image and lack of self esteem. It’s something I want to work on and something I want to get over.

If the media were to ban Photoshop retouches..could you just imagine? Women might actually start to feel better about themselves when we all begin to realize that our favorite stars have the same smile lines that we do..would we admire them ore or less?

I think that you are very brave for not only recognizing your own insecurities, but for sharing them with, well…the world. It is through a sharing of experiences that you, and so many other women having the same thoughts and feeling that you are currently experiencing, won’t feel so alone and isolated. I began The Beautiful Women Project when I was thirty five - I didn’t feel beautiful, but noticed all of these women around me who were so beautiful, not because of their physical attributes, but because of this shine that they had coming through them. I desperately wanted to learn what they had, what did they know that I didn’t get yet? So, I met thirty five women ages three through ninety and what I learned from them was so simple: Beauty is the sum of a woman’s life experiences. Your physical body is such a small part of your overall beauty. Those laugh lines are years of happiness. The freckles…summers with your friends and family. Take a moment and read a selection of the women’s stories at http://www.beautifulwomenproject.org and click on galleries. The book, Beautiful Women Celebrating Beauty in Stories and Stills (Bridgeway, 200 8) is available on Amazon.com, the Beautiful Women web site, or in your local book retailer. Let me know what you think. Nancy

My sister recently told me that I was a “pear” shape. I almost cried. I hate being referred to as a fruit. I know that most people use these terms to describe our shape, but there must be a nicer way to call my shape. So I decided to do some research…

I found a website that actually uses much better terms to describe our bodies. They use jewel types……what a great idea and way to describe our bodies! I am no longer “pear shaped…..instead I am “sapphire” shaped. I like that sooo much better. The website is http://www.holobi.com.., kudos to them for thinking of this. My sister is a “diamond”…I hate her.

I’d much rather be a sapphire then a diamond any day. Thanx for the comment and the link. ) All women are beautiful. Getting old sucks but I truly believe if your beautiful on the inside that it shows on the outside. )

You are right ibdreamy, I am very happy with being a sapphire and love my body regardless of the description!
