I think Blog Action Day is a great idea and I plan on participating this year. I think conversation is extremly powerful and I believe that we can change anything together.

Sign up today and you will receive an email reminder when the time comes to publish your post. The topic this year is Poverty. A topic that is very relevant in our country and in the world right now. Register your blog today!!

Blog Action Day is an event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers to post about the same issue on the same day.

One Issue, Thousands of Voices

Each blogger brings their own perspective and ideas. Each blogger posts relating to their own blog topic. And each blogger engages their audience differently.

“We ask bloggers to take a single day out of their schedule and focus it on an important issue.…the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the web and focuses audiences around the globe on that issue. By doing so on the same day, the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the web and focuses audiences around the globe on that issue”.

“Out of this discussion naturally flow actions, advice, ideas, plans, and empowerment. In 2007 on the theme of the Environment, we saw bloggers running environmental experiments, detailing innovative ideas on creating sustainable practices and focusing audience’s attentions on organizations and companies promoting green agendas. In 2008 we aim to again focus the blogging community’s energies and passions, this time on the mammoth issue of global poverty.

Anyone is free to join in on Blog Action Day and there is no limit on the number of posts, the type of posts or the direction of thoughts and opinions.

Ok this is cool folks..if you always wanted to backup or download your entire live journal but you never knew how or you knew how but your like me didn’t want to sit there and use the LJ export tool which only allows you to download one month at a time..I have been writing in my journal for 7 years so that would take me hours.

ljArchive

What is ljArchive? It’s a Windows-only exporter for LiveJournal. ljArchive is a tool for downloading, browsing, and analyzing journal entries and comments from LiveJournal (or LiveJournal clones). ljArchive is currently available for Windows, and may soon be coming to gtk/Linux. ljArchive allows you to do the following to your journal:

  • Download and navigate a synchronized, local archive of your journal or community.
  • Search through your journal for keywords, and browse through search results immediately.
  • Export your journal into various formats, such as XML, HTML, PDF (in conjuction with LJBook), and MIDI (yes, MIDI!).

Plus you can.. Run custom plugins on your journal. ljArchive comes with the following plugins: Entry Reader - reads your journal entries aloud using text-to-speech technology. Regressive Imagery Analysis - provides a psychological profile of your journal. Word Count - provides a list of the words used in your journal, and their frequency. Post Frequency - graphs the frequency of your posts over time. Comment Count - graphs the number of comments left by users in your journal, and also how many comments you’ve left them. You can also use it to export your entire journal to an .xml file and import it into a wordpress blog! Download ljArchive

Celebrity Photoshop and body image in my 30’s

Women in our society are constantly trying to live up to a level of beauty that is sold to them through fashion mags, TV and movies..what we all might not realize is how much of that beauty is a computer generated.
Fantasy women that real women could never measure up too.
I think these pictures are an eye opener and goes to show just how incredibly fooled we all are by the media. We’ve been bamboozled! Don’t get me wrong I think we all like to look at beautiful people but  it’s also nice to know we’re not so bad after all too..that everyone has their faults and no one is picture perfect.

What’s been hard for me is just getting older.. not being in my twenties anymore…and when I turned 35 whoa I really started to feel old. I want to see the beauty in myself but its not always easy because I do notice those little smile lines and imperfections that come with natural aging..I see them everyday and it does get me depressed.

I’m really grateful for Roy because he’s always telling me “Your so beautiful” which usually makes me feel better but then again deep down inside I’m also always thinking to myself.. he’s just saying that because he loves me.. so he can’t win for losing. Haha!

I think I struggle with the same thing a lot of other women…body image and lack of self esteem. It’s something I want to work on and something I want to get over.

If the media were to ban Photoshop retouches..could you just imagine? Women might actually start to feel better about themselves when we all begin to realize that our favorite stars have the same smile lines that we do..would we admire them ore or less?

Here are some pics of friends at an 80’s theme party that I went to last night..it was pretty fun. I hate the 80’s though..it was a horrible decade in fashion. I got a little tipsy and we all danced to sipping on some siszurp

I’m working on a website for a customer who happens to be hosted at Dotster. Can you believe I can not get a WordPress installed on his webspace after working there for a freaking year!? Me either. It’s so wack. I’m so frustrated. I know it’s not me I did everything right. Grr!

Anyway’s I ended up installing him on my webhost! Haha! WTF? Uh yeah. I was sick of messing around with their wacked out settings. I got everything installed I’m just waiting for his name servers to propagate. What I’m gonna try and do is export it over to Dotster once it’s created..will that work? Well..that’s the plan.
